This portrait of Obama includes symbols of the challenges he will face during his presidency.  In the background one sees a cityscape made out of infinity signs. It symbolizes the uncertainty of the times that will be the backdrop to his presidency.  On Obama's forehead we find a "third eye" that is emitting and transmitting knowledge to and from the viewer of the painting.  The composition is nearly cut into two halves vertically.  This represents the dual nature of political life, especially during election time...the private and the public. Although this is a painting about hope for an insightful new president, it also shows that we are in fragmented and uncertain times.
